Busy As Usual: The Web Series
A Talent Agent has to wear many hats - therapist, career councillor, publicist, lawyer, disciplinarian & mother. Talent agents are often the unsung heroes of the entertainment industry. They do 90% of the work and get 10% of the pay off.
Busy As Usual: The Web Series is a fly on the wall look at what goes on inside a talent agent’s office. You will find our Talent Agent convincing potential clients the casting couch doesn’t exist; guiding his clients towards self awareness… and sometimes guiding them right off the books. Giving his actors the tools they need to succeed is always the Talent Agent’s first priority, however in the hands of an overzealous actor or a client with the self awareness of a clog, these tools don’t always lead to the results the Talent Agent was hoping for.
Real - life talent agent & actor Sean Miguel Perez (supporting role in festival winner “What If It Works?”) wrote, co-directs, produced and stars in Busy As Usual: The Web Series alongside a stellar ensemble cast such as Lauren Hamilton Neill (award nominated for Best Lead Actress in Melbourne Short Film Festival), Brielle Flynn (The Best Actress Award for the 48 Hour Film Project), Alistair Magee (Captain Starlight at Randwick’s Children’s Hospital) & Alex Osmond (Official Selection for Cyprus Comic Con 2017).
The characters that our actors brought to life were so rich that during filming, the production team found it hard to contain themselves. Upon being asked by the 1st AD how a shot looked after a take, the DOP replied “I don’t know, I knew if I looked at her too long, I’d laugh so I shut my eyes & hoped for the best”. Speaking of the 1st AD, when she was asked to describe her role on set, she replied with “What? Huh? Basically eating all the food. Is that wrong?”. Coupled with our co-director being the king of dad jokes, this set was full of pure joy… and no food… because our 1st AD ate it all. We have her admitting this on camera.
Sean Miguel Perez works as a Talent Agent which has inspired the making of this web series. Having always wanted to write, but never knowing what to write about and constantly being told to create his own work; he turned to his work to create his own work.
Every day in the office is always new & interesting, never boring & always entertaining so sitcom seemed to be the perfect format to tell these stories of what most Talent Agents & Talent Managers go through on a day to day basis.

Sean Perez is a graduate of The Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music (CQCM), Mackay - CQUniversity (BA Music, Specialisation Musical Theatre), The Western Sydney Institute of TAFE NSW (Cert IV Musical Theatre) & Cranebrook High School (Cert II & III Live Technical Production).
Sean directed his first play as part of CQCM's "Context" & "The Agent: The Web Series" marks his professional debut as a director & writer.
I've always wanted to write however the fear of writing and getting it "wrong" because I haven't had any training or qualifications has always prevented me from doing so but I bit the bullet and came up with BUSY AS USUAL: THE WEB SERIES.
This is my first self produced, written, co-directed & starred web series created with the intention of entertaining an audience for a short amount of time on a mobile device to keep them occupied whilst out and about waiting in line for the bus or for a friend, etc.
Working as a professional Actor and Talent Agent, I've heard the stories of how actors are with their representatives as well as wanted to educate the general public about how hard it is to make it in the industry, all with a hilarious outlook to these situations of how ridiculous it can actually be!
