Director Biography - Ronnie Zidon

Ronnie Zidon is a 25-year-old Israeli film-maker. Zidon creates bold, young LGBTQ content with a heavy dose of humor. As an out lesbian in her field, Zidon is interested in increasing feminist, queer visibility on our screens.
Zidon wrote and directed Israel's first and only strictly lesbian television series, "Dyke Society", a 9-episode comedy peeking into the lives of a lesbian clique. This indie made-for-web was also screened at film theatres.
Currently, Zidon is developing a dramedy series about a lesbian Tel Avivi who accidentally becomes Internet famous. The project was picked to participate in the prestigious Torino Film Lab in 2019, and the series' pilot won an Award of Merit at the Best Shorts Competition and an honorable mention at the Vegas Movie Awards.
Also, Zidon is developing an international science-fiction crime feature film which asks the question, can advanced technology solve all of out social problems, or is it too late in the case of the patriarchy?
During her film school studies, Zidon created short films that were selected for festivals all over the world, from the USA to Australia. Among them, a documentary about a genderqueer artist, and a romantic comedy about a lesbian who literally thinks out loud.
Zidon has pursued her writing ambitions from a young age. She wrote a queer science fiction novel, and was a military journalist for three years.
