Director Biography - Alex Beehoo

I have always had a passion for film, ever since I stole my dad’s copy of Alien and stuck it in the VCR and gave my younger self nightmares for weeks.

But even then I loved the worlds that films created, the idea that you could put characters and develop stories in any universe you could think off. But not only imagine them, have them come to life in front of you on the screen.

Over the past few years I have been lucky enough to meet a group of people that share my love for film and with their help I have brought some of my dreams to life and helped them tell their own stories.

Director Statement

So many people suffer in silence every day, so many people are misunderstood and judged, so many people don’t even understand what’s happening to them and so many people need support and love.

Depression, PTSD, Anxiety, these all have a profound impact on the lives of more and more people across the world. I myself have struggled with anxiety and depression and so have some of the people I know, including Callum Forman, who first proposed and wrote this short film idea. We wanted to highlight the emotional and mental impact these conditions can have on a person and also to show that anyone can be effected and everyone is effected differently.

The number of young males committing suicide is the highest it’s been in decades and it is a tough issue to talk about for a lot of people, but we felt it was something that needed to be addressed in a way that shows the harsh reality, but also carries a strong message which is to never give up because life is too precious and although you may feel alone in the world there are always people around who care and love you. You just have to reach out to them.

This project had a very small team working on it and without their hard work it wouldn’t have been possible so thank you to them.
