What does a professional orchestral bassoonist do during a pandemic? “Zoom” choreography, of course! While unable to play in concert halls, ballet orchestra pits, or for film soundtracks, musician/teacher/multi-media artist Leslie Lashinsky used the pandemic period for pet projects like Synapse Contemporary Dance Theater. Leslie has long been involved in music and dance improvisation, performance art, and experimental arts collaborations. She’s performed at Jacob’s Pillow, Dance Theater Workshop NYC and Lincoln Center’s “Serious Fun Festival.” Her “Muscle Tones” piece (utilizing the BodySynth controller) premiered at New Music Across America.
What comes first, the movement or the sound? I like when they're inseparable.
