Your Mouth is Fire

YOUR MOUTH IS FIRE was written during the Coup d'état in Brazil in 2016. The idea of a virus propagated by a totalitarian government, in the not-too-distant future, became almost a prophecy. Today in Brazil there is a pandemic with a genocidal government, where thousands of lives are being lost. There is an information war, as if the virus were language. The memory of our cinema is being burned, it is literally on fire. The Cinemateca Brasileira's collection is being criminally erased, through the direct fault of this government. The film we were able to shoot in 2020 is about diversity, has a black and transgender female protagonist, and the cast is 90% black, with the majority being the first work in cinema. It's an achievement to have finished the film. And the Afro-futurist aesthetic is crafted so that we can imagine a future, as our past is being extinguished with fire.

I hope you enjoy watching this film, as such we did making it.
