Parida Tantiwasadakran is a Thai-American writer-director whose films have premiered at multiple festivals all around the world. Her latest film, ”Young People, Old People & Nothing in Between" won Best Live-Action Short Film at the Academy-Award qualifying deadCenter Film Festival, Best Performance at the Canadian Screen Award qualifying Vancouver International Women in Film Festival, Best Short Film at the KUKI Berlin Film Festival, and Best Student Short at the Porto Femme International Film Festival. The film was nominated for the YUGO BAFTA Student Awards, received Special Jury Mention at the Busan International Children & Youth Film Festival, and is an official selection of Slamdance, Short Shorts & Asia, Chicago Children's International, and Hawai'i International Film Festival. Parida’s first film,“Red Ladies or Help My Mom is a Republican!” won Best Political Comedy at The Women’s Comedy Film Festival in Atlanta, was nominated for Best of Awards 2021 NewFilmmakersLA, Best Short at the San Diego Asian-American Film Festival, and was one in five shorts highlighted at the Academy-Award qualifying Los Angeles Pacific Asian Film Festival. Before becoming a filmmaker, Parida worked as a game writer in Bangkok. She is the recipient of The Adrienne Shelly Foundation Award, the U.S. Department of Education Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship, the Carl David Memorial Fellowship in Film, the Mind the Gap Award for Excellence in Filmmaking, and is the two-time recipient of the Herman Kass Prize. She holds an MFA in Film Directing from UCLA and a BA in Poetry from Columbia University.
