Winter's Year
This experimental, short film is based on the poetry chapbook “Winter’s Year” written by Carlee Soeder.
In the film, we follow our narrator through a movement representation of 4 poems, on their journey through heartbreak, depression, and self-discovery.
Exploring the words used against us to hurt us, the faces we put on for others, the thoughts that trap us inside our heads, and the release of our past selves.

Just a Miami-raised gal who loves telling stories. I graduated from FSU's School of Theatre and came to Georgia in 2020 to start working, learning, and teaching myself all about filmmaking as an actress, PA, props person, writer, director, and producer on set. Every day is a wonder we were gifted, and I'm here to explore it.
This project was truly a project of passion. During my time at university in my creative writing minor, I wrote a poetry chapbook. While writing scripts, I picked my chapbook up and an idea to make an experimental short following the trials and triumphs of heartbreak that the chapbook encompassed spurred. I aimed to find visually compelling ways to communicate the poems' many meanings to the audience, and pushed myself to explore my own way of visually showing an audience the inner dialogue of a character.
