Didier is a cab driver from the Paris suburbs. He frequently drives clients to and from the hospital where his wife is works. On that day he picks up a young woman and her daughter. As soon as the cab leaves the hospital, she bursts into tears. It transpires that her boyfriend has just been admitted to the burns unit…

Director Biography - Karina Beuthe Orr

Belge par son père, américano-suédoise par sa mère, Karina est une actrice, autrice et réalisatrice basée à Paris depuis 20 ans.
Après un premier parcours dans le milieu musical, Karina change de voie et décroche le concours de la Classe Libre du Cours Florent, elle commence à travailler pour Philippe Calvario aux Bouffes du Nord, Jean-Michel Ribes au Rond-Point, et des réalisateurs, en France et outre-manche : Robert Eggers, Thierry de Peretti, Jonathan Jakubowicz, Yann Gozlan, Pierre Schoeller…
Parlant cinq langues, elle développe une carrière d’actrice des deux côtés de la Manche, décrochant sa place dans «The Crown» et des séries anglaises de la BBC, Channel 4,… En France, on la voit régulièrement tant sur le petit que le grand écran, cette année dans "Normale" de Olivier Babinet et "Irréductible" de Jérôme Commandeur.
En parallèle, elle suit les Masterclass de Robert McKee et John Truby, et ne cesse d’écrire : un long-métrage «Pandora», un moyen-métrage en co-écriture «Arc-en Ciel», un court «ID», un autre court en anglais «Inheritance» tourné par Olivier La Combe, un moyen-métrage en co-écriture et tourné avec Azize Kabouche «Carré 644», un pilote de série pour la RTBF «Le Dragon», une pièce en co-écriture avec Azize Kabouche «Saloperie», des projets de long-métrages «Cercle Polaire» et «Traversée», une pièce de théâtre «Heartless».
Enfin en 2021, elle réalise son premier court-métrage entre deux confinements : «Nous Deux ou Bien Rien».
Depuis 2018, elle développe avec Azize Kabouche le long-métrage «Chauffeur de Saoudiennes», une traversée de la montée de l’activisme féminin en Arabie Saoudite dans les années Trump.

Director Statement

I wanted to tackle domestic violence from a man's point of view : what can you do, when something happens right in front of you, but you don't feel entitled to act upon it ? Domestic violence is an issue we should all talk openly about, man and women together.

I also wanted to have as many women as possible in the project : producer, DOP, crew... something I'm proud about and that gave the adventure even more meaning for me as a first time director.
The main cast is composed of 4 women on 6 roles, and the crew has a wide majority of female talents, from DOP to producer to 1st assistant etc...
