Director Statement

It is hard knowing that when you're involved in a student production. My goal with 'Unlinked' is to create something that 10, 20 years away from now, we can look back at it and said, "How the hell did that happen?", no matter if we will be successful people or not. We (Rodney and I) approached this project with two different visions: one aiming where most student films are, and one aiming for a more professional film. I think we achieved a professional look with this documentary. We could have gone bigger by focusing on the impact of COVID on the U.S, but there are way too many things to cover. That would take hours. So we look to where we're at in our community and work with what we have. By focusing on a particular area, I hope that the locals will feel connected with this film here. There are things we can improve on, that I'm sure of, but it's a learning experience. I was super nervous because I never expect my first serious project is a documentary. I don't know much about it, neither do I have background experiences with it. But in the end, I'm glad we were able to produce this with zero budget.
