Director Statement

“An Artist’s duty , as far as I’m concerned, is to reflect the times” ~ legendary musician Nina Simone.

Ever since I read that quote, I have wanted to create personal yet universal stories. This has been even more clear since the 2016 election cycle. We are living in a country where our government is basically letting us know that marginalized groups aren’t important. That it is okay for Black and Brown people to be treated as second class citizens, that LGBTQ+ don’t deserve to have the basic civil rights, that women don’t deserve to have control of their bodies.

As an Artist, I want to tell stories that highlight people who don’t always get to be seen as fully formed, imperfect, strong yet vulnerable characters in our media. That has lead me to write and direct "The Morning After".

Enjoy.
