Isabell knew from a young age that she wanted a career in entertainment, though it wasn’t until high school that she chose filmmaking specifically. Inspired by the works of some of her favourite directors like Peter Jackson and Guillermo Del Toro, her passion has always been in storytelling, particularly in Fantasy and Period Dramas.
Born and raised in Indiana, United States, she achieved a Bachelor’s degree in video production with a minor in screenwriting at Ball State University. It was there she gained a specific interest in writing and directing, and wanted to continue her education to develop these skills further; so she decided to pursue her Master’s degree in Film at Edinburgh Napier University.
It was right here in Edinburgh that I first heard the tale of Christian Cadell on a tour of Mary King’s Close, and immediately knew that I wanted to tell this story. I was drawn to this idea not only for its unique roots in the history of the witch trials, but also the strong themes of identity and gender inequality that are still very relevant today. This is a story about betrayal and deceit; about two women in completely different circumstances, drawn together as they desperately try to survive in a world that has never been kind to them.
I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to direct this passion project and feel extremely fortunate to have been able to work with such an amazing team of gifted actors and filmmakers. We were blessed to have many amazing backers who generously supported the creation of this film, as well as the selfless aid of several local businesses and organizations who allowed us to use their locations to create a truly stunning world. I look forward to sharing this incredible story and can only hope it has the same impact on you all that it has had on me.
