Director Biography - Kyle Wong

Kyle is the director and co-writer of “The Crow – Nightwatch”. After making his first film in 2009, Kyle learned filmmaking on-the-fly whilst working on various local productions, leading him to craft the first of several web series and short films that determined his filmmaking style and finding his niche in martial arts-infused dramas. Kyle found success with the 2016 award winning short film “Vendetta” and producing the 2019 award winning “Date Night” with co-writer Jasmin Chong.

Director Statement

I directed this film because I felt like I was finished with filmmaking after my last film in 2017. It took my co-writer Jasmin Chong, and my friend/producer Cory Anderson to bring me back.

Jasmin because she helped me refine my writing and action directing approach, and my friend Cory as he helped push my career. His enduring belief inspires me to continue our dream of making films.

The making of this film was a challenge, an intellectual property known for many problems and tragedies. Ours was on the verge of shutting down because of a global pandemic but the cast and crew chose to see this film through to completion.

This film was made with the passion and motivation of every cast and crew member that wanted to show their true potential. We all banded together to complete the last Winnipeg based film production before the implementation of the safety guidelines and restrictions that affected the film industry.

This film is for those who never gave up.
