Director Statement

As a Screenwriter, I write what I see. As a Director, my goal is to make sure others see what I’ve written.

“Browsing History” is my second effort as Director; since its completion, I’ve directed two more short films. I’m a writer essentially. I write. I write what I see.

‘FADE IN:’ And then I wait to see what I shall write. Truly, I take dictation.

Enter “Browsing History”.

One-night stands...we all have them or have had them, sometimes knowingly and sometimes unknowingly. Such is life. Sometimes we usually are just left with memories and first names or nicknames...some of us only remember locations or occasions.

Have I had a one-night stand knowingly or unknowingly? Yes. Have you? Some one-night stands are not intentional. One of the partners simply wants to see what they are working with sexually before they make any sort of decision on the matter of a relationship. It’s sort of an ‘investigative process’ if you will. And some ‘investigations’ yield negative or undesirable results, thus the encounter then becomes a one-night stand. It is usually during this time when the ‘stranger in the night’ leaves before dawn. Unless there’s adultery or betrayal occurring...(that’s for another short).

In “Browsing History” I wanted to show a one-night stand continuing into the next morning and revealing satisfaction and ‘joy’ (if you will) over one’s ‘drunken choice.’ I visualized a happy ending to the romantic, albeit dangerous, encounter. I indulged in the concept of a man falling in love with his one-night stand simply by getting to know her through her browsing history. I had no idea what he would discover nor how he would react. The script really does write itself.
