Director Biography - Andrew Schwarz

Andrew Schwarz is the director, co-writer, co-producer, and music composer behind THE CABINET IN THE WOODS. He is an extremely hard-working and passionate visionary of cinema.

When he was born on February 2, 1992, the doctors all erupted into laugher; for Andrew Schwarz was the only humming child they had ever delivered! An innate flare for music had blossomed, rendering him a fine pianist, singer, composer, and teacher of piano. Film became another obsession of Andrew's at about the age of 12.

Andrew graduated in 2014 from Hofstra University with degrees in Music Composition and Film Production. His senior thesis short film, SEPARATION, crushed the festival circuit with 21 acceptances around the world, and garnered 10 award wins and 14 other nominations, all in just one year.

THE CABINET IN THE WOODS is Andrew Schwarz's first post-academic vision, realizing his fervent adoration for the horror genre and all things creepy! A partnership with fellow filmmaker Bob Klein has brought a truly unique and conceptual slice of body horror into the world; one that not even the most accomplished of horror audience members is likely to soon shake off!!!

Director Statement

Hello All!!

Thank you so much for taking interest in this wild little horror/thriller, THE CABINET IN THE WOODS! Dare I say, this film might just trick you once or twice. But my saying anything further will not do justice to the film's aberrant charm! One must see it right away to understand...

That being said, I must add that this project, like all other projects on which I whole-heartedly take, is a product of immense passion; a passion for the telling of stories that are truly UNIQUE, in every sense of the word, from a writing to a visual standpoint.

I DON'T MUCH CARE for stories that fail to put a cheeky smile on your face, or make you have to look away for a moment, or afterward ponder the experience you've just shared with everyone in attendance. I am not in the business of making movies that ignore your personal connection and bewilderment.

That is my rubric and my forewarning. I do hope you enjoy the one-of-a-kind experience of THE CABINET IN THE WOODS!

Yours Horrifically,
Andrew Schwarz (Director, Co-Writer, Co-Producer, Composer)
