Director Statement

What happens in the department of pre-life? If you were told to file a plan before your birthday, what would you say? Would your plan be approved? With a curmudgeon in charge, none can tell. Where will his customers land today? They'll never know until they ask and hear, "Is that the best you got?"

The Best You Got is a dark comedy. Half parable, half allegory. The story imagines an ethereal place known as the department of pre-life. There a banker and his two unconventional assistants must approve customer plans before they start their lives on earth.

If given the option, what would you ask? Something big or small? Would you be rich or poor or something in between? Ask too much and get kicked to the back of the line. Or maybe - just maybe - you can convince the banker to approve your wildest dreams. With many sizzling moments, this 10-minute short will intrigue the audience with topics as diverse as faith, politics, and family.
