Director Biography - David Chrzanowski

David Chrzanowski (Director/Writer) is a Los Angeles based emerging film director. David's interest in film revolves around generational family stories. THE ALIBI, his short film, explores a day in the life of a 10 year old as he tries to impress his father by helping to run an unusual errand. David has helmed some cool directing projects, mostly for the stage. A recent favorite: MR. BURNS, A POST-ELECTRIC PLAY, was produced in partnership with The William Inge Theater Festival in Independence, KS. Another, SAVING CAIN, an original piece written by Aaron Kozak, premiered at the Hollywood Fringe Festival netting the "Ensemble Theater" award . His recently formed company, False Dice Pictures, was incorporated in hopes of giving voice to stories and creatives who haven't traditionally had the odds of succeeding in Hollywood on their side. He is represented by Shirley Hamilton Agency (Chicago).

Growing up with a hippie father who just so happens to be brilliant at moving drugs wasn’t something I could exactly talk about in third period gym class with friends. How to explain the racing boat parked on the street, or room in the back of the house that was off-limits during birthday parties? Why make-up a story of course. In a sense, this was my first foray into acting- the stakes being very real, and very high.

Now that I am a father myself I wanted to write a film that was both a reflection on those times, and a high five to my younger self; who somehow made it out alive. I think on a slightly more metaphysical level, I was hoping to have the chance to hold a conversation with a man, however flawed, who gave me the paint brushes to see the world as beautiful, and the emotional intelligence to laugh at its many absurdities.
