I'm Vanesa Moreno, a Bolivian-American filmmaker based in Los Angeles and New York City, originally from the DMV metropolitan area. I am passionate about filmmaking because of my deep desire to connect with other people through my art. I am an immigrant at hand and a story teller second. I have a yearning to tell my personal stories I carry with me everyday and find such a therapeutic connection to tell them through filmmaking with community and people I trust deeply. My main inspiration of filmmaking with the documentary route coincides with director/writer Chloe Zhao and her film style that I simply adore. Meshing the routes of documentary and narrative is exactly what I would want to pursue in my filmography.
Vanesa Moreno is a filmmaker based in LA/NYC. She’s Virginian-bred and a big part of her upbringing in art was through film photography. Her favorite class in high school was darkroom photography where she shot black and white photographs and developed and scanned herself.
Her and her college roommate Sophie Nguyễn’s upbringing as a tom-boy is very much a big factor in the story as well as navigating their lesbianism & bi-sexuality. The female friendships they’ve had in elementary school as young girls caused them to reflect and make this film. Vanesa’s Pisces moon and Sophie’s Aquarius moon make this film art very dreamy-like and Vanesa’s obsessions with dreams and what they tell you are a big part of the commencing of this short film. ‧₊˚ ☁️⋅♡✩°。 ⋆⸜
