Experiencing Interruptions?

Sacrilege

“Sacrilege” is the story of a demon trapped in an old, wooden, dime-store chest, and the people who seek to own that chest. There is George, a man who knows how to find things, George’s benefactor, a collector of the occult and cursed artifacts, and a supplicant from the demon’s congregation. After George locates the chest and plans to collect his reward, the supplicant intervenes to protect his demonic lord. The human form is fragile, and the powers of good and evil, depending on your point of view, campaign for victory.

Director Statement

Following my truncated senior year of high school, I wanted to make a horror film. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I had lots of time to write. Stand-ins and creative editing became necessities to the making of the film, as some reshoots were impossible to accomplish due to the quarantine. Despite the obstacles, I endeavored to create an action-horror film on a tight budget and even tighter shooting schedule. I wanted to showcase the occult, dread, greed, gore, and some comic relief. Very simply, my film has a wealthy collector who pays some naive and greedy people to find demonic and possessed relics. One of the collector's pawns obtains a chest from a witch; the chest is marked with a pentagram. This chest imprisons a demon that has devoted disciples, and one of these disciples will risk his life to retrieve the chest containing his master's evil spirit. A bloody battle ensues, and we learn that the demon can work through his follower...even death does not stop the disciple. My hope is that the viewer enjoys the film and realizes that even with roadblocks, you can build your own props, create your own stage blood, and shoot the movie you want to make.
