Mike Malajalian is a Lebanese Graphic Designer and Filmmaker.
He directed several short movies that participated in international film festivals including “La Femme aux Raisins” (2011) & “Gli occhi di Aldo” (2014) .
His 2017 horror short film “Reprisal” won the Maskoon Fantastic film festival’s Best Short Film award and went on to participate in 30 international film festivals including SITGES, Boston Underground, Frightfest, Macabro and Abertoir.
His latest short film "Spasm" is starting to participate in festivals.
Mike is now working on his first feature film.
My new short film SPASM is directly linked to the psychological turmoil that the Lebanese population has been going through since the end of 2019. On top of the economic crisis and the revolution in Lebanon, the August 4 explosion which destroyed the whole city in 2020 and killed and injured so many people, left everybody devastated and traumatized. I made this short film to pour out some of those feelings of deep anxiety and panic attacks which I have been suffering from and to start a conversation about the stigma and taboo related to this subject.
