Midnight Ceremonies Media began in Spring 2021 as a group of Twitter mutuals interested in playing a game of Monsterhearts set in the Pacific Northwest. All of us were already fans of actual play shows, and we took the energy we had previously invested into fandom into our own original story. Despite starting as a group of strangers, from the very first meeting there was a sense that we had something special going on. In Fall 2021, we began production on our first season, The Cromwell Chronicles, about a group of supernatural teens attempting to start a Grunge band. For our second season, The Valkyrie Cycle, about a group of monstrous high schoolers up against the apocalypse released in Fall 2022, we expanded our team and partnered with the LGBTQ+ led actual play cooperative community, the Rainbow Roll Network. TVC went on to be selected into multiple webfests and win awards like Best NPC at the 2023 CRIT Awards and Best Cast Chemistry at the 2023 Baltimore Next Media Web Fest. As of Spring 2024, we are in a new phase of our studio, announcing Rolling Midnight and prioritizing bringing as many new people behind and to the table as possible.
Each new season of Rolling Midnight tells a unique story with a different diverse cast playing an indie roleplaying game, with the same dedication to authenticity, quality, and innovation every time. The first season, 30 Candles, features a trilogy of one-shots that explore horror and tragedy within three unique settings. Using Ten Candles by Stephen Dewey, the different casts and crews collaborated to connect their one-shots through original music and sound design, worldbuilding shared between GMs, and recurring themes that arose organically from improv. From the Wild West to suburban neighborhoods to the Californian wilderness, three groups of people will give everything they have to survive and escape the forces of darkness. If only that were enough... No character will survive these stories, but they will not give up hope.
