Director Biography - Chris Hall

Born and raised in Macon, GA, Chris has always loved to entertain. He was involved with plays every year in school through high school. When a drama class became available, he took full advantage to work on his craft. From an early age, Chris enjoyed performing or organizing some sort of entertainment for family and friends. Growing up, he admired a family that was close to his own, which worked in the film business.

At the age of 31, he began his own journey with his first short film, Cheatin' Charlie. He had saved money and aquired a camera, lights, editing software, and multiple other components to forge alone if necessary. Although Cheatin' Charlie did not receive festival submission status, it was given distribution on a new streaming platform named Peachflicks. Building his confidence from that, he continued to add new and better gear to his arsenal.

Through working on other local film sets as a crew member and attending/volunteering at his local film festival, he began to build his network and craft his team. By the time he was preparing for his second short film, he had aquired several gifted crew members, allowing him to relinquish most all on set duties so he could focus on directing and working with the actors. He filmed This Day Sucks over the course of 18 hours over two days, and is currently in the submission process. He plans to continue to grow from his experiences as well as give others the opportunity to grow in their craft as well.

Director Statement

As someone who has never attended film school, but has seen what others who have, have had to do to sharpen their skills, I present Rectified as a study of lighting and simplicity. This is a film that explores an intense emotional struggle between two friends, trapped in one location. I hope you enjoy it.
