As a child, Michelle developed a passion for acting that led her through numerous film projects, from commercials to short student films to a feature indie horror movie. But as she got older, she got more and more interested in all of the elements that went into an entire production.
Now in high school, Michelle has moved on to discover the joys of operating behind the camera. She has worked on several of her own short film projects, culminating in the production of the award-winning short film "RUN," a thriller that she wrote, produced and directed in 2018. Michelle aspires toward a career in filmmaking, as she loves taking her ideas and translating them into "reality" on the big screen.
Peer pressure is something that every teenager faces at some point during their lives. RUN is a story that takes a look at teenage peer pressure through the magnifying glass of a dark, disturbing extreme.
I wrote the script for RUN last summer, and then convinced several of my theater and film friends to work with me on it.
What struck me most was the ability of my cast to really identify with their characters. I think any teenager will find a little bit of each character within ourselves -- Allie, the leader; Avalon, the socialite; Violet, the quiet intellectual; and Basil, who just wants to fit in.
But what happens when you discover that fitting in involves a little more than you had bargained for... perhaps too much?
RUN for me was more than just a film project, it was also an awesome social event in which my friends and I got together and lived the script for several days while we created something really cool. It was one of the most interesting and enjoyable experiences of my life, and I hope that the audience will enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed producing it!
