Director Statement

I want to compare the male protagonist to Canton and the female protagonist to Hong Kong. They were originally a young couple but got divorced, and the female protagonist was taken away by a Gweilo, just like Hong Kong was forcibly occupied as a colony by Britain. After experiencing a series of events, the female protagonist returned to the male protagonist, just like Hong Kong's return to the motherland.
I used a dark tone of the film, and in terms of audio-visual language, I designed many frame compositions to express the initial estrangement between the male and female protagonist. The entire film uses handheld lenses to coordinate the change of frame composition from being to nonbeing. At the end, I designed a aesthetically surreal treatment, changing the 16:9 frame to 2.35:1 to highlight the change in the relationship between the female protagonist and the male protagonist.
