Director Statement

PROTEUS is a love letter to sci-fi, action, and horror movies of the 70's and 80's like Alien (1979) and The Thing (1982) that inspired me to be a filmmaker. For my senior thesis project at Grand Valley State University, I wanted to return to my roots and make something that could be found in a bin of VHS tapes and enjoyed at a middle school sleepover. We did as much as we possibly could practically, and embraced the constraints of old-school filmmaking. Grab some popcorn. We hope you enjoy the show.
