Director Biography - Sandy Thomson

Sandy Thomson is a writer / director based in Scotland. She has written for and directed theatre and film, alternative reality games as well as audio and visual journeys. She is the recipient of a Playwright Studio Scotland award for international research on Poorboy’s touring production, Damned Rebel Bitches. She creates experiences at the junction where audience, place and narrative meet.
Her work originated in site specific and promenade performance, encouraging audience to use their eyes as a camera while they travel through public and private spaces. She created Falling with the National Theatre of Scotland - a journey through urban and corporate spaces and the subway system of Glasgow. In the streets, tea shops and museums of St Andrews she directed Chinese Whispers, appropriating crowds of students in graduation ball gowns to create scenes. Her works have been critically acclaimed, receiving 5 star reviews and inclusion in international showcases like IETM and Made in Scotland.
