Known to be a melting pot of cultures, my country, that once propagated वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम् (The World Is One Family) stands divided today. This ancient civilization, in the internet age, finds itself caught in the fault lines of religion, class, and caste. This country and its citizen are fighting a battle for identity. each side staunch about their own ideas, making it hard to find spaces where people with different ideologies can agree to disagree harmoniously and co-exist, instead of being looked down upon as disappointment by society and family. violent conflicts, physical and ideological are bubbling in the minds of its citizen often spilling into the streets. voices are being raised and laws are being changed, all in an attempt to understand, “who are we ? how do we want to define ourselves? who does this country belong to?”. Violence can not be the answer, but then what is? All this rage bubbling in people, how do you address it? Can talking about things that connect us instead of fault lines be the answer? MY INDIA is an attempt to humanize people divided by different fault lines and find connecting threads that can hopefully stand up to those fault lines.
