Experiencing Interruptions?

Moira

The Moirae are at the table, in front of them lies a great banquet. Clotho is spinning with a wooden spindle; Lachesis is measuring the thread with her hands, and Atropos is cutting it with long scissors when they are interrupted by an omen that reveals a great event at nightfall.

Director Biography - José Mauricio Aguirre

I consider myself a lover of surrealist, dark and experimental art. The cinema of avant-garde and Latin American literature has been my main creative foundation when I make cinema. I like to find new narrative forms in the different media supports -whether it be cinema, painting, photography, music, or video art-; for me, the "how" is the most important thing; expressing ourselves with our voice is what gives us value as artists.

Director Statement

The Moirae in Greek mythology were represented as three blind witches, hidden from the world in a cold cave; they were spinners who through their wise hands built, spun, and cut the lives of all human beings. They were represented as daughters of the night: ruthless, impartial, sinister, divine, clairvoyant, violent, and righteous women. Nothing escapes their eyes, even if they are blind, for them the past, the present and the future are part of the same thing, of the same thread. In Moira, we are shown the divine dance of the three witches as they manipulate the threads of destiny to finally celebrate the arrival of the night.
