Director Statement

"I want to be simple. Those who know are simple." Cézanne

I find the process of perception fascinating. It has, I believe, a lot to do with art: the brain constructs reality and creates meaning from the sensory stimuli it receives from the environment, and it does so taking into account previous experience. Such reality, such meaning, is checked and readjusted as the stimuli change, and in turn, the brain also changes.

As a director I have long sought to do away with all that is superfluous, all that is accessory. I believe that a flower, a stone or, in this case, a stream, can contain the whole world. It is basically up to us to see beyond mere appearances. That’s why I didn’t want to use layers in post-production, to link the superimpositions we see in the shots —rocks, water, the sun's reflection— to the layers of reality we can perceive.

This film intends to create a sensory experience for the viewer, turning, through the camera, real images into abstract ones, while also turning the screen into a canvas, so that the viewer actively participates in the construction of meaning.
