Max dives into a hazy night to discover his true identity. He encounters with the inhabitants of a dreamy underworld through which some lose him, and others guide him, teaching him the value of love.

Director Biography - Nathan Clement

Nathan Clement (2002. Reunion) is a reunionese filmmaker and musician.

He studied cinema in Switzerland at HEAD-Genève, where he made La promenade sous les Arbres (67th Oberhausen) and Max et les Étranges (68th Oberhausen). 

He graduated in 2022 with his diploma film La vérité sur Alvert, le dernier dodo set on his home island.

In July 2021 he was among eight young talents mentored by Samuel Ross, as part of the Dazed x Converse Open to Change program.

Director Statement

Max et les Etranges is a short film I wrote with Maëlwenn Lobbé, exploring themes of gender, love and loss entangled in a night labyrinth. I tried to find a form, both visually and narratively, that embraced the dizziness of self-acceptance.
