Director Statement

Filmmaking is one of the most evocative collaborative arts, with endless possibilities... challenging at every turn, with considerations of budget, time, weather and synergy. With MIRROR IMAGE, we were making a film about strong women and we were a cast and crew composed of many strong women, with over 50% of cast and crew being female, including a female director/writer, female cinematographer, female twin leads portraying non-traditional strong female characters and actress Lisa Costanza is a 20 year war veteran, having served valiantly as a Colonel overseas, in Kuwait and Iraq. War veteran/actress Lisa Costanza portrays a colonel in the movie and she brought intensity and truth to this short drama about sacrifice and democracy. The cast and crew were very diverse; white, black, Latino, Asian and LGBT inclusive in major acting roles and crew positions. The film explores the themes of freedom, democracy, honor and sacrifice. There is also a duality and what you see isn't always what it appears. The film is meant to provoke contemplation and conversation. Thank you. Linda Shayne (director)
