Lollipop
*Official Selection: The Indie Gathering 2018*
*Official Selection: Horror Films in Hotlanta 2018*
Inspired by Grindhouse horror movies and taking a visual cue from It Follows, LOLLIPOP pays homage to the female-driven slashers of the 70s and 80s with a modern, witty yet still reverent sense of humor. LOLLIPOP is about the women targeted by a serial killer who leaves a lollipop with each of his victims. But his next target might be ready for him.

Donald Martin III, or Trey, is from Montgomery, Alabama. He graduated from the University of Alabama Birmingham with a BA in Theatre and, after graduating from the Second City LA conservatory, performed with the improv troupe "Token Black Friends." As an actor, Trey appeared in THROWDOWN (starring Danny Trejo) and starred in the films KIKI N' BRUNCH and CAHABA (in post-production). He loves strong female characters, survivor horror video games, and comic books.
I love horror films and I live my life by strong women and revenge. So, I wanted to explore the repercussions of underestimating women by making my own horror film that is reverent to the genre but, frankly, doesn't take itself too seriously. Inspired by the aesthetics of It Follows and the flipped gender roles of Kill Bill, I tried to make LOLLIPOP surprising, empowering, but, above all, fun.
I hope you have as much fun watching LOLLIPOP as I did making it.
