Amos A. is a filmmaker, musician, and visual artist, formerly known as Aimee Norwich. His formal education is in jazz and classical electric bass, audio production, and room acoustics. He holds a Master’s in Music from New York University.
Amos makes films using the Super 8 and 16mm medium, mostly with direct animation techniques with archival footage. He uses his music for the sound designs, sometimes creating new arrangements from his repertoire, as well as writing new compositions. He has also written film scores for shorts, one of which won Best Director in 2015 at the RXSM Film Expo.
As an advocate for environmental conservation, he is currently working on a multimedia piece called Past the Tipping Point, using film, sculpture, lighting design, live music, and more.
I primarily work with Super 8 and 16mm found footage. I love the aesthetics of the medium.. The tactile aspect of it is also preferable, in that I like using my hands on objects.
My creative process in filmmaking naturally parallels my music production techniques. I use analog methods (film, and audio tape) to the furthest degree I can take it, and then use digital for final touches, further editing, and delivery.
