Director Statement

Ever since I was a little girl and picked up my first camera I knew I wanted to be a storyteller. My passion for photography eventually led me to pursue an education and career in film, which I am extremely grateful for.

Los Colores de Marcia was born from my own personal experience growing up with my dad who was already 70 years old by the time I was born. As someone who lived with an elderly parent, I witnessed the challenges my father had to endure as he grew older in age firsthand.

With this film, I wanted to portray a glimpse of the hardships that the elderly go through and how it can be a very lonely and solitary phase of life. I also drew inspiration from my sister who is a nurse and whose patients are of older age. She would tell me stories of how each of her patients had a great story to tell but no one to share them with. For this reason, I wanted to make this film to portray a group from our society that is often neglected by mainstream media.
