Job Seeker

"Job Seeker" is a short film that tells the story of a young autistic man in desperate search of employment in a challenging economic environment. The film begins with him wearing borrowed clothes and styling his hair with water from a public fountain before setting out to submit job applications. However, despite his efforts, he is continuously rejected, and his stack of applications becomes smaller and smaller. Over time, the young man becomes increasingly frustrated and disheartened, until he finds himself alone and abandoned on a cold bench, using his folder to shield himself from the wind. The beautiful music of Juventino Rosas' "Over the Waves" and Mozart's "Fantasia in D Minor" is used to accentuate the protagonist's emotional journey. "Job Seeker" is a poignant portrayal of the struggles faced by modern young people in search of a decent livelihood.

It is an introspective reflection on life, objects, human rights, and the difficulties experienced by neurodivergent individuals.

Director Statement

As an artist, I see art not only as a form of self-expression but also as a tool to incite political change and generate positive outcomes for my community. I strongly believe that art has the power to bring awareness to important social issues and to influence individuals and communities towards action.

My work primarily focuses on advocating for the human rights of young people who use psychoactive substances in Latin America. Through my art, I aim to create a space for dialogue and reflection on the stigma and discrimination that these individuals face, and to challenge preconceived notions and stereotypes associated with drug use.

The process of creating my art is deeply rooted in the principles of storytelling and graphic narrative. I use drawing and audiovisual techniques to tell the stories of young people who use psychoactive substances and to showcase their resilience and creativity. My work is intended to be thought-provoking and to elicit emotions in the viewer, sparking a conversation about the need for more compassionate and inclusive policies that address the root causes of drug use.

I draw inspiration from various sources, including my personal experiences and the experiences of those around me. I am constantly seeking new ways to push the boundaries of my artistic practice, experimenting with different techniques and mediums. For me, the process of creating art is a way to constantly challenge myself and to grow both as an artist and as a person.

Ultimately, my goal as an artist is to use my platform to make a positive impact in my community and to create meaningful change. I am committed to continuing to use my art to raise awareness about important social issues and to inspire others to take action towards creating a more just and equitable world.
