Isolated Silence

"I prefer to live in company in a prison than to live in loneliness." This is a phrase my grandmother uttered when her pension was taken away. I share special moments with my grandmother, filled with deep reflection, as I find every topic we discuss interesting. That's why I decided to embark on an investigation into the issue of loneliness in countries with the highest density of elderly people per population.

I discovered that in Asian countries such as Japan and South Korea, there are serious issues affecting the elderly. Senior citizens experience solitary suicides or resort to stealing food to be incarcerated. These problems have arisen due to the high rate of loneliness and poor management of pensions and healthcare.

I believe that everyone deserves a dignified old age, and we often underestimate this stage of life. I would like to narrate this story because in the future, my generation may face a similar problem, as explored in the short film. People from the middle or lower-middle class may struggle to afford such services due to the constant inflation we experience worldwide.

I am looking for characters who feel isolated from the outside world. Ariadna is a woman who follows society's tide, fulfills her duties, and doesn't express her feelings; she usually shows small smiles with her sister. I incorporate humorous moments where we discover the love and affection between the two sisters and Ariadna's inexperience when stealing from a supermarket. Each theft signifies an internal change in the character; Ariadna is an emotional bomb on the verge of exploding. Therefore, I am aiming for a progressive dramatic tone, starting with fatigue and leading to the character's breaking point.
