Director Statement

Thank you for your consideration. My parents and grandparents emigrated to Brooklyn in the early 70s and were thrown suspenders-first into the American melting pot. My grandfather worked a jackhammer for 40 years and managed to purchase the building where I shot this film, a feat that frankly can't be replicated in this day and age. I wanted to honor that struggle - and success - and illuminate the sense of entitlement we experience when good fortune falls in our lap. I sought to create an epic yet seductive film that draws you deep into the intimate feelings of the players, while maintaining the distance of a neighbor listening in from above. Enjoy!
