I Have No Wings
"I Have No Wings" is a documentary drama, with the theme of moral and human values.
The main character of the film Makho, living in a small village in Georgia is eager to continue the family tradition and dreams to become a falconer - trainer of predator birds, like his grandfather. He spends most of his time with his closest friend -hawk Emily, which he trained himself.
For supporting his family – grandmother and disabled brother Nika, Makho takes his hawk to the old city centre of the Capital Tbilisi, offering visitors to take pictures for some money.
Due to the changed legislation toward falconry, the Ministry of Nature Protection confiscates Makho’s bird. Loosing of the best friend results in a big financial and bigger emotional loss for the boy and his family.
We will observe if the protagonist of the film, despite all these obstacles, will be able to keep motivation and joy and strive for his goal.

Bronze Award Winner - BEST FEATURE DOCUMENTARY
Being interested in cinematography since childhood I decided to commit my career to film directing. After finishing Anastasia Virsaladze Art Gymnasium, Film and Theatre Directing Faculty I graduated from Georgian University, Film and TV Directing faculty.
Starting my career in television I have over 15 years of experience editing digital video stories, news and multimedia content. Currently, I work in the South Caucasus media organization Go Group Media/Jam-News as a director, editor and camerawoman. I also edit film trailers for the International film festival CinéDOC -Tbilisi.
In 2019 I launched my film company “Studio CHVEN”.
My longtime goal to work and direct my own film came true as I submitted my first film project (I Have no Wings) to CinéDOC-Summer School 2018. Summer School was an incredible experience for me, as I worked alongside professional documentary filmmakers and received feedbacks and recommendations on my project.
Next step on my directing carrier was Civil Pitch 2019.
Civil Pitch is an annual project of the CinéDOC-Tbilisi documentary film festival which is designed to connect filmmakers and non-governmental organizations to turn the public’s attention towards challenging and highly relevant issues of modern Georgian society.
“Identity in Process” – my second film project, won the Development Award at the Civil Pitch 2019.
I was selected to participate in the 2020 edition of the Talents Nest platform of Meeting Point - Vilnius. However, due to the coronavirus situation in the world the 2020 edition of Meeting Point Vilnius was cancelled. Fortunately, I got this opportunity in the 2021 online edition.
Nino Memanishvili about the film „I Have No Wings“
We all live once. At least, this is what we know.
I believe that a lot depends on us, how could we rule our lives.
Not everyone knows what they want. Many people just follow the way life gives them. And only a few of us exactly know our desires.
I was 7 years old when I told my parents that I want to be a film director. I have never changed my mind and always moved toward my goal. It was not the easy way, there were a lot of obstacles and they are in the present time also. However, I could reach my goal!
The protagonist of my film reminds me of myself.
He was 13 years old when we first met. He was already a person who knew exactly his intentions and interests. He had a dream to be a falconer like his grandfather. Today Makho is 23. He has a life full of problems and obstacles. But I am really proud of him! He is a good example and motivation for others. Nothing can bring you down if you believe in yourself and in your goals!
The theme of my film is the story that engages and inspires. As stories are the catalyst for change as any one person’s story can change the way we think — and in changing the way enough people think, it can change our world!
