Based in Hollywood and Tokyo .
Directed,written,edited,music,production by Daniel Merlot.

Daniel Merlot is a video director, music producer, creative director who currently resides in Los Angeles where he splits his time between there and Tokyo, actively working on a plethora of entertainment projects.

As a music and video producer he has scored top charting songs in Japan, worked with K-pop girl groups and has produced top artists in China. He also has scored numerous film and TV shows in Hollywood such as Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown, Marvel Comics film Blade Trinity, Conde Naste’s Vogue fashion videos.

He recently has made the transition from music videos into film, creating the award-winning sci-fi fantasy short film House of the Unholy. Daniel’s unbridled passion to alchemize visuals, sound, and fashion continues to fuel his drive to create exciting genre bending entertainment.

Director Statement

House of the Unholy is a one-of-a-kind ,visionary short film which has won over 55 film festival awards around the world at the end of 2022.The film was created by Los Angeles/Tokyo based creative director, polymath and all-around renaissance man Daniel Merlot .

The film is a genre bending mix of Sci-Fi, fantasy, live action interwoven with sequences of anime .It was filmed in the jungles of Thailand pre-pandemic.The film is a prologue introduction to an upcoming full length feature.

Drawing influence from Jodorowsky, Tarantino, Kubrick, Japanese Anime, and Hong Kong Horror, House Of The Unholy is a surreal cinematic experience that is both hauntingly beautiful and chillingly bizarre.

Oscar award winning sound mixer Jeffrey Perkins who has mixed Dances with Wolves,Breaking Bad,Aliens mixed the sound at Warner Brothers Studios in Los Angeles.
