Marcus was born in Yorkshire, England and presently writes for BBC TV’s ‘Doctors’, while living on the West Coast of the US.
His career in story began as a theatre director staging plays in tiny London Fringe Theatre venues with impossibly large casts (often outnumbering the audience.) He moved up to directing plays in bigger theatres with more comfy seats, including UK Repertory theatres, as well as directing an opera in Italy. It was through his love for theatre that Marcus discovered his passion for writing drama, and he began by adapting classical novels for the stage, which have been staged in England and the US. He then wrote short film scripts, through which he earned the opportunity to write for BBC TV’s ‘Doctors’ and ‘EastEnders.’
Since moving to the US, he has continued to write for the BBC, while also working as a Story and Field Producer in unscripted TV, as well as occasionally continuing to direct theatre. He has written original TV pilots and specs as he continues to hone his craft.
