Director Biography - Scott Talbot

After coming to Los Angeles from Portland, Maine, Scott Talbot studied film and animation at Otis College of Art and Design. He attributes his filmmaking style of composed and stabilized visuals to these school years, where he felt more performance and story could be communicated with fewer camera distractions.

Happy for You is Scott's third short film and most ambitious to date. It combines everything he has learned with everything that inspired him to be a filmmaker. The result is a nail-biting thriller that delivers a hard-hitting ending.

Director Statement

Over the years, I've made several short films and commercials. Between the commercial clients and the industry expectation of what I thought I needed to make, I lost my way. I told stories I believed in but weren't as fun to make as they should've been. With Happy for You, I'm returning to what's most enjoyable and used this to guide my writing. With this dark thriller, I'm putting the audience first and prioritizing entertainment. I want you to be on the edge of your seat. I want the credits to hit, and you feel like you watched a movie.

Happy for You is a genre and set of character conflicts I've wanted to make since I started making movies. I'm so excited by how it turned out and the audiences that will get to see it. So please, sit back, and enjoy!
