Born and raised in Vancouver BC, Brenna has a Masters of English with a focus on Horror cinema. In addition to writing and directing, she authors a weekly film blog (youremindmeoftheframe.ca) where she critically analyzes some of her favourite films and shows. These include "Phantom of the Paradise", "Pan's Labyrinth", "Twin Peaks", and "Labyrinth".
The old expression goes that an optimistic person will see a glass half full, a pessimist will see it half empty, and a realist will just see a glass of water. “Half Full” was inspired by the strange overlap between optimism and pessimism, in that both technically see the same glass, but see it in radically different ways. The very existence of a ‘glass half full’ implies that it’s in the process of becoming more than what it was, versus less (the ‘half empty’). This leaves the question, what does something dark become under an optimist, or simply, what might the optimist see versus the pessimist?
