Director Statement

I directed the film FRAY after wanting to explore the intimacy and differences of living in a dysfunctional family. Being my first directorial work, I wanted to try something new from all the visual approaches I’ve encountered, being inspired by the latest Gaspar Noè film, Vortex. While watching this film, I wanted the viewer to experience the split screen technique as a portrayal of a glimpse in the life of the daughter, Sofia, and her own path through the relentless attempts to escape the dysfunctional relationship with her mother. This film will always be special to me because I always was drawn to expressing into an art form, the relationships I’ve encountered and lived through my own life. The experience working on this film will help me with future projects because I understand better all the steps, challanges and attention to detail needed to create an unique film.
