Born in 1990. She is a graduate of Contemporary Film and Video course at Manchester School of Art. During her last year of Bachelor studies she completed two films and one of them, „Spectacle Macabre” (2012) was screened at the festivals in Manchester and Sankt Petersburg. She decided to continue her film education after two years of gaining the experience, working on TV sets as 2nd AD and runner and being a part of a team in the development department of TVN television channel in Poland. She got accepted in the Film and Television Directing MA course at National Film School in Lodz, Poland. She has made two short documentaries „Transitions” (2015) and „Pretty Boy” (2016) as well as a few short dramas: „Third” (2015), „JU” (2016) and „For You” (2018). In November 2017 she received the scholarship in the film school in Brussels, INSAS, participating in their documentary program Regards Croises.
The story told in the movie is quite a personal one. When I was 19 years old I decided to study abroad, moving on my own to the different country. No one was doing that at the time. None of my friends at least. I wanted to follow my dream of becoming a filmmaker. Coming back four years later I had to face my own „failure”, I didn’t get where I wanted. The most difficult part of it was to admit it in front of myself.
Years later I felt the need to tell the story of such a long anticipated winner who’s actually coming back totally lost. Marta can’t say she didn’t make it or she changed her mind. She has the price she decided to pay for following her dreams in front of her. Her family, friends and her old love.
I wanted to tell the story based on the impulses human body gives when the mind is completely blocked, like one impulse leads to another, which eventually leads to the tragedy. Marta makes selfish choices under the pressure, she puts on herself. She doesn’t think about the consequences as she longs for the feeling of safety.
Nothing can be logical, when all the feelings are locked inside and only an explosion and brutality can release them.
