D Policy (Obakpolor Esemuede) is born and bred in Nigeria and he is a recording artiste, song writer and a producer. He started his journey into music as a backup singer in a church band.
Although he had no keen interest in becoming a music artiste initially, But he love music his whole life which led to the formation and sponsoring of the group called NDMS in 2010 which released a few singles in 2011.
But then he noticed the band didn't have the same vision he had and later disbanded the group and for five years, he went about other passions but his love for music did not wane.
In 2016, D Policy interest and love for music grew even stronger then he decided to hone this skill, he then signed up for Artistry at the Joey Yap Unluck Your Voice Programme in Malaysia and for six months, he learnt the ropes.
Satisfied that he had gotten what it took to do music professionally, he launched out in 2016, adopting the stage name: "D Policy" or D.P for short and went on as they kick start another band with a group called DMD. D Policy career began to rise to new heights by making some exciting decisions.
DMD released two singles; "D Men Dem" and "Monica" both produced by Kenzeal Mix but mastered by Exzel and Suka Sound respectively. "D Men Dem" was released on 2nd April, 2017 while "Monica" was released on 24th September, 2017.
In order to test his individual ability at singing, D.P released his first solo titled "Ifeoma" on 5th May, 2017. It was closely followed by another one on 19th October, 2017 titled "No Woman, No Joy", featuring Mr Mac. It was produced by Kenzeal Mix and mastered by Suka Sound.
D Policy slowly gained fan base which led him to dominate the market gradually.
He wish to communicate with the world at large through his message of love and hope. D Policy is into Afro-beat, Afrohouse, Reggae, R&B/Soul, Dance Hall, Afro-pop and Hip hop, D.P got down to work again between February to July 2018, he released three singles, even though the band, DMD still worked to produce more hit songs collectively.
His first single in 2018 was "911", produced by Kenzeal Mix and mastered by Mix Monster (Selebobo) and released on 13th February.
The superstar collaboration with Tekno opened up exciting new doors, the song tittled"Pam Pam", which he featured Tekno, was produced by Krizbeat and hit the market on 19th March 2018.
D Policy proves that he mean business by releasing " African Woman" the same year 26th July 2018 and the song was produced by Kenzeal with guitar by Fiokee and received an amazing response from everyone for always releasing classic evergreen songs. D Policy is effortlessly working out is career day by day.
D.P, reveals he has loads of songs to unleash but as an independent artiste, he take it slowly and step by step so that he don’t fizzle out, because even with his knowledge of music, he says he is still studying the music industry deeply.
With his passion for music he took it upon himself to start his own record label 2018 which he called City of Talent Records but he shut it down some time later due to some challenges he experienced.
In 2019 D Policy founded BIG TALENTS DOMAIN LIMITED And he now produces his music via his studio by collaborating with other producers.
D.P believes in hard work plus dedicated focus on one's goals and he says, "in few years from now, I see myself as becoming one of the greatest musical artistes in Africa if God permits. I can only wish and work towards it but only God can make it possible with my hard work and focus."
He is currently based in Malaysia and hopes to see his music recognized and appreciated by winning awards in the very near future. However, he also performs in clubs from time to time, plus he's looking to feature some of the best artistes in the industry too who complements his kind of vibe and music style.
