Face of Evil

This film, called 'Face of Evil' (original title 'Obraz Zla'), offers utterly dark atmosphere, it is made in a style of psychological gothic horror; the story itself is told by darkness, candles, shadows and faces of actors - in 'Face of Evil' there are no words at all. It is also noted because of its extensive long shots, and this is exactly what forms the film's unique atmosphere. In its visuals and main theme itself the film was partly influenced by works of famous British Hammer Production, as well as by Italian Giallo films and the famous German Expressionism of the 20's.

A group of young bohemian people pays a visit to apparently haunted castle, dominated by even higher forces: they are eager to get a single night of old medieval charm at the castle (including sophisticated dinner and infamous explicit orgy). However, they are not alone - there is something beneath the surface of the building, something old, terrifying, hungry for human company - something much older than Christianity and humanity itself ...

'Face of Evil' is a story of bohemian pleasure, of horror and, above all, curiosity; the film is actually the third part of so called "The Dark Trilogy", while 'From Romantic to Realism' and 'Night Streets' both form first two parts of the same trilogy.
