FASHION VICTIM

My plan wants to highlight the neologism coined by the well-known designer of Dominican origin Oscar De La Renta, to indicate the fashion victims as people who, in an uncritical and passive way, follow the dictates of fashion.
Vulnerability and transience in the face of materialism leads these subjects to be considered victims, on the one hand of social prejudices and on the other of the interests of the fashion industry itself, two of the main excesses in this field.

Excess is the key that transforms a symptom into a pathology. Just as a fashion victim is considered such when she exceeds her looks, leading them to exaggeration, even a slight mental disorder can turn into an obsession when an individual alters his or her thoughts, doubts, hypotheses, fear about a particular topic. This exaggeration connects this concept to the three main disorders, from the psychiatric point of view of obsession: obsessive-compulsive disorder, dysmorphobic disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
