Jake has had a longtime passion for travel, film, and music, so it was only a matter of time before he found a project that would scratch all three of those itches. His first documentary delved into the world of hang gliding, focusing on the people who lived for it and why they gave up their normal lives to soar among the eagles.
Next, Jake hit the road, traveling to over 30 countries with his brother to demonstrate the importance of travel and reality of budget travel in his YouTube series, Back to the Peaceful Sea. He and Matt continue to develop the series and have put out over 75 episodes.
And now the most recent documentary project, Endure, follows a music producer from LA, Jay Denton, as he travels to destabilized regions of the world to create music with those affected by war, terror, and persecution. The first film documents Syrian refugees living in Beirut, telling stories of hope in a desperate and often deadly situation.
The project will continue with a second film, traveling to Columbia to pair personal stories and faces with the devastation of the collapsing country of Venezuela.
I love to tell stories. I believe-- in a time when everyone can learn about anything they desire-- not enough focus is given to stories of hope and the people that persevere no matter what they encounter.
This is my attempt to to help change the focus. By taking the medium of music, something that can cross cultures, generations, and languages, we are able to connect with the joy, the pain, and the emotions of people that we've never met. And through that empathy, hearts and minds around the world will change, if even in the slightest way. That is my goal...
to be a vessel for empathy.
