Director Statement

What I got involved in Echoes of the Shadows was an invitation from Hajime Hagino, who is also one of the performers. I felt a part of their passions that Producer Hiroshi Oyama, screenwriter Noriko Kohara, not only the two of them, but also the actors involved was trying to make a film together on the phone call from Hagino.
Isn't it essential for future movies that actors to actively work as "creators"? It's been about 10 years since I had such a thought, and I'm really lucky as a movie maker that I was able to be involved in this movie at this time. It's a new challenge for myself, and at the same time, I feel equality and freedom like when I was shooting 8mm films in high school and college. I hope that a new appreciation experience will begin for the audience.
