Paul Howard has always been interested in entertaining people and in telling stories. His professional career started as an actor when he went to the audition based two year theatre training program at San Joaquin Delta College. Later he transferred to UC Irvine where he received a BA in Drama. Paulās interests in the theatre and in film started much earlier though.
Throughout High School, and before that, Paul was constantly writing stories, making films, choreographing routines (some where he danced like Michael Jackson), directing plays, and taking vocal and dance classes.
Paul has always been interested in more then just the one character he was cast to play.
The other characters and their motivations, the pieceās themes and message, and the audienceās experience watching have always, and naturally been a part of Paulās thought-process and consideration. This skill has, in recent years, organically lead Paul to continue to act but to also write and direct more and more projects (which are often self produced).
Just in the last few years he has directed and written numerous short films, music videos, promotional videos/commercials, and political projects.
Paul believes that content, truly is king, but only with high quality and a fully committed heart.
Paul strives to every day be a better man and in turn, a better artist.
As the world becomes more and more connected, thanks in part to technology but more specifically to the internet, we are at the same time dealing with higher statistics of depression, suicide, and feelings of hopelessness and disconnection. Especially in young people.
E M O T I V E N T IšµN was ironically born from this ideaā¦ that while we have all these neat tools to better connect us, we have somehow become less connected. What responsibility does social media have? Do we hear one another anymore? Are we even listening?
While the questions are certainly serious and important, their themes of perception and miscommunication are the perfect platform for satire and comedy. Itās my belief that sometimes the best way to educate or challenge an audience is with humor.
From the fruition of this idea to the writing of the script, casting, production, and post production I wanted the experience to be professional but fun. I also wanted to be able to make this movie for no real cost. This was achieved largely due to the amazing bunch of friends I enlisted for both in front of the camera and behind it and I think the results speak for themselves. Sometimes just making something, for the sake of making it, is enough.
I hope you enjoy E M O T I V E N T IšµN !
