Belinda is an actor and now a writer/producer/director with her company No Small Productions. She believes in the power of storytelling and understands the influence it has on shaping society. She is interested in small stories, tackling big themes that place older female characters centre stage. This is her directorial debut. She has since written/produced and directed a second film, Nothing to See which was shot during the Covid pandemic and deals with the theme of the surveillance state.
Directors Notes
Dis/Connect explores the primal need for human connection which has become more complicated by the alienation of our present society where money, artifice, and conformity are highly valued and success is paramount. What do you do if you do not fit these narrow expectations? How does one still feel part of society? Shot before the pandemic, the isolation the character feels and her choice of how to address this perhaps will resonate even more strongly, in a post covid world.
